> Baghdad In No Particular Order

FATIMA
is the oldest daughter of Kareema. She is coy and radiant and loves Syrian pop songs.

MOHAMAD
is the brother of Fatima and Amal. He was in jail for crashing a car in Baghdad before the invasion. He is still recovering.

KAREEMA
is the mother of Fatima and Amal. She makes bread on a home made oven for money. Her daughters are gregarious, like her.

HE'BE & DU'A
are twins and daughters to Kareema. They affect an air of sophistication that strikes one as both charming and scary. Fun too. They had the driest hands I have ever touched.

MA'MOUD
is the youngest in Kareema's family. No he's not crying because he doesn't have enough to eat (although malnutrution is very high in Baghdad, especially for children under 16). He's crying because he couldn't play with my digital still camera.

AMAL
is the sister of Fatima and the twins. I thought she had a crush on me but this could simply be my vulgar vanity at work. She and the twins danced like they were in trances. It was sublime.

ZAINEB
is the middle sister. I didn't talk to her much. Someone has to be quiet in this family.
